The Upstairs Gallery opened in 1963, the first commercial art gallery in the Ithaca area. After a year and a half, the original owners were unable to continue in business, so the gallery was kept open by a group of volunteers dedicated to the ideals of supporting local artists, showing high-quality art, and reaching as many people as possible.
As we welcome a new generation to the helm, we wish to give our heartfelt thanks to those long-time board members and volunteers who kept the gallery running for over 45 years: Mary Lou Harriott, Connie Reps, Irene Silverman, Janice Esman, and Doris Brown. Thank you!
